Dental veneers are thin, tooth-colored shells that are custom made to cover the front of your teeth to improve their appearance. When a patient wishes to improve the color, shape, size, or length of their teeth, Dr. R. Erik Cantwell may recommend dental veneers in West Jordan, Utah. Our dentist may recommend veneers to improve the appearance of:
• Discolored teeth
• Worn down teeth
• Chipped, cracked, or broken teeth
• Slightly crooked or crowded teeth
• Misshapen teeth
• Teeth with gaps and spaces between them
When preparing a tooth for a veneer, our dentist removes a small amount of enamel to allow room for the veneer in your mouth. Impressions of the tooth will be made so the veneer can be constructed. Our dentist may place a temporary veneer to cover a very unsightly tooth. When your veneer is complete, our dentist will place it in your mouth to check its fit and color. Then he will trim the veneer as necessary to achieve the ideal fit. Your tooth will then be cleaned and roughened, which allows for a strong bonding process. A special cement and curing light are then used to bond the veneer to your tooth.
